There have been memorable performances of Python character PC PanAm, notably by Graham Chapman in the sketch based at the chemist shop, but in my opinion, this version, by Michael Palin, is the most brilliant.
Note how Cleese (as prosecutor)and Chapman (this time as Superintendent) do their best not to break out laughing as Palin wields his truncheon.
