When you hear that someone had just died on the news, you stop for a few seconds and you go back to whatever you were doing before. But when one of your own parents die, it's like a part of you died, right along with him. The pain is unbearable, and the tears are uncontrollable.

A year ago, my mother died in a car accident. A year ago, I started fighting with my dad, non-stop. A year ago, I quit my hobby, or more like my dream. Singing.

"We're here!" My dad announced, making me hop out of the car. Looking up at the huge house, I smirked, shaking my head.

Ever since our mother died, he's been in complete guilt mode. Whether it was buying us expensive things, or taking us out to expensive places. Not that I wasn't grateful for it, because I definetly was. But no matter what he did, or whenever he did it, he could never make-up for what he did.

------ Flashback

I sat on the stairs and listened to the argument.

"How long has this been going on Daniel?!"

"Calm down."

"Calm down? You want me to calm down?" She picked up the car keys, and head for the front door.

"Where are you going, Michelle!"

"For a drive," She mumbled, before slamming the door behind her.

And that was the last time I had heard her voice, nor saw her pretty face.

------ End of Flashback

I glared at my dad, the memory angering me.

"Could you have gotten a bigger house?" I made sure I slammed the car door hard enough, to make him flinch, and entered the house.

"He's doing the best he can, you know."

I turned around to see my brother, Dylan, setting boxes on the nice hardwood floors.

I laughed, sarcastically, "By bribing us?"

"What happened to you?" He whispered, "What happened to the sweet Layna I used to call my sister? I'd do anything to bring her back."

He ran upstairs, but not before shoving a picture into my hand. The girl that smiled at me had big, ocean-blue eyes, loosely curled brunnette hair, and a yellow sundress on. The girl was me.

I simply answered Dylan's question, though he could not hear;

"She lost her mother."
