A chicana is a woman from mexican descent who has lived most or all her life in the U.S.
A latina is a women born in a latin country, a latin country is one influenced by the roman culture and language, i.e. Italy, Spain, Mexico and Brazil. However, the american media has related the term "latin" and "Latino" to people from latinamerican countries exclusively, resulting in an incorrect use of the word. Greets.
