Just a simple focus test I did with the Panasonic DMC-GF1+20mm+14-45mm after I installed the 1.1 firmware. The GF1 has decent AF but it is nothing the write home about. I actually prefer the manual focus of the 20mm over the AF.

What is really interesting is how well the 2X zoom retained detail. You can actually use the 20mm as a macro lens with the Digital zoom. I can't wait to get my hands on the Sigma 30mm F1.4 lens. I think that lens could be awesome for manual focus video.

  • Does the G1 shoot video!?, some people say it doen't but some say it do!!

  • @noobsyb0t No the G1 was the only m4/3s camera that did not shoot any form of video. All other m4/3s cameras will shoot at least 720p MJPEG HD video.

  • is my eyes playing tricks or what??

it seems like the colour of the video is slightly better when uses 20mm lens ??

am i right? or is the same?

  • @KaNGaRooBaby910 There are color differences(Mostly in contrast) but it is up the user which one they think looks better.

  • Is this a micro four thirds, or one of those Hybrids with a large sensor in a compact body?

  • @Carlo568 Actually yes to both of your questions. It is a very compact micro four thirds camera that happens to be excellent for video as well as stills.

  • why is this on Full HD when the camera only records HD??

  • @mpgxsvcd The Canon's re-focus while filming is absolutely horribly dreadful. It hunts and seeks all over the place before settling. It's like it needs to see the out of focus on both sides, before it discovers whether it needs to focus in or out. Absolutely rather pathetic. It's a 100% deal breaker for most consumers. People that own a T2i for instance, know it. Forget about passing the camera to the wive. Count on seeing no footage of yourself.

Woof, got that out of my system. Sorry about that

  • i have both lenses. it's unfortunate the 20mm focus is so loud.

  • such a good firmware for testing focus...... : )

  • hi what are the differences between the AVCHD and VGA types?
