You know FIAT (as in Italian car company) also has a turbo 1.4 that products 100bhp / ltr and low emissions. You'd image that and it's predigest common rail diesel engines (powerful, clean and economic) would suit the US very well. Lots of torque... They use special combustion chambers to remove NOx and particulates, meeting the latests Euro5 requirements already. You can also run them on BioDiesel.

So it's IMPOSSIBLE to create greener cars is it? That does seem to fly in the face of Europe, which produces considerably more economic vehicles, greener and with the same of even greater performance.

The idea that a car cannot be fast, spacious and economic is embarrassingly dated.

I'm not talking hybrid. Just consider VW latest 1.4 litre engine. Turbo and supercharged. In a Jetta it produces 160bhp and 177 lbs ft. But does 32.8 mpg around town and 51.4mpg highway. Top speed 136 mph.

I'm seeing Obama as becoming more arrogant. In regards to the torture memos, Obama said that CIA agents wouldn't be prosecuted. Since when does a President have the power to decide who can or can not be prosecuted?
