Thank you! Thad the best way to improve on your art is to study the art that you are aspiring to create. Look at the art of the masters who paint the way that YOU want to paint. Try to find originals so that you can see the brush strokes or original markings. It would be also good to find a teacher. Find your inspiration. Take photos of what you want to paint. Go into nature. Look at things! Look at Krishna's art! He is the Supreme Master Artist! Hare Krishna!

The color of Krishna is a mystery to those who never met Him, because His color is not material, it is a transcendental color. So we take the guidance of self realized souls to give us a slightest idea of Krishna's color. In Indian languages, sometimes "blackish" can mean anywhere from "grey" to dark. But our teachers have told us that Krishna looks like a dark blue rain filled cloud which is struck by lightning. Or a dark sea which is reflecting light. It's quite mysterious.

Hmmm....that's interesting. I am familiar with Grec-Roman accounts of Teutonic/Celtic women that fought along side the men in battle...when Cesare attempted to land on the southwestern shores of Britain, his historians made note of the tall naked women donned in blur war-paint...screaming and daring the Roman Legions to come ashore. Of course we know the rest of the history there....the Romans took them up on the challenge after some goading by Cesare (according to Tactitus).

I read about how consciousness and states of mind change body while reading up on Celtic women in primitive times, who were warriors and they were said to be by ancient sources physically superior to men, larger and stronger. I don't know if it's appropriate to speak of a matriarchal age per se, but we do know that there was a time when people weren't sure of men's roles in procreation and women ruled households, but as patriarchy tamed them into submission they became smaller and more fragile.
I met Jadurani in Brooklyn back in 1970, (i think it was 1970), and at the LA temple back in 1978. Watched her paint Maha Visnu lying in the Mahat Tatva ! It was cool. :-)

Hare Krsna Mataji! I had a question about the color of Krsna. Why is he so light in most paintings but in the scriptures is described as a dark rain cloud or a bluish black color. Am I not understanding the correct color of Dear Lord Krsna? Thank you so much for your insight.

Colors have particular moods and powers. Krishna's color has the mood of masculinity or Purush bhaav. Krishna is the original male so He is often colored like a darkish rain cloud. But in the spiritual world nothing is set. Sometimes when Krishna or the Gopis change moods, they also change colors, (sort of like blushing). When Krishna is thinking about Radharani SO DESPERATELY He starts to change into Her color. That is called "Radha lingita Vigraha"
