The number of Tibetan refugees reaching India has fallen dramatically following Chinas crackdown on pro-independence protests in Tibet in March, 2008. The chief refugee coordinator for Tibets exiled government in Dharamsala, India, Ngawang Norbu, told RFA that Chinese authorities have increased pressure on border areas since last March. He said the already tortuous journey for refugees trying to escape from Tibet to India has become much more treacherous.

The PSB has been busily confiscating mobiles and laptops in Tibet ever since March 2008 but it is even more afraid of people getting out and being able to tell their stories.
