  • i once mistook a resting elephant for a big black boulder among bamboo in a forest.took a few minutes before i realised the fellow was a huge elephant.luckily for me wind was blowing in right direction,n i was able to scoot.rubber slippers r more practal to avoid leeches.

  • @vidaripollen - great story and I can almost picture you taking a running jump onto the 'rock' and then screeching to a halt in a rush of adrenaline as the boulder came to life! Thanks for the tip about rubber slippers. Do you know why do they work?

  • the only thing that barks loudly in the jungle is a sunbear..

  • @BorneoForestHutan - thanks for the comment and that would be great if it really was a Sunbear...but I think it was more likely to have been a Barking Deer and that I was being a bit pathetic. That said, let's just agree that it was a bear!

  • Thanks for the comment - we're did you get lost?

  • @MyFriendsHotel Unfortunately I didn't record my escapades, thanks for uploading, brought back some brilliant memories!!

  • @MyFriendsHotel I cracked up when I read the description of your video, I did exactly the same thing here!! I spent the day walking through Taman Negara. I felt like I was in a David Attenborough documentary and couldn't stop thinking "Bloody hell, this is a proper rainforest". I stayed out to long though and it started getting dark & I got that feeling in the pit of your stomach when you think you might have messed up. Spent a panicky half hour trying to get out at dusk, but made it unscathed!

  • @MyFriendsHotel agreed :)

  • @MyFriendsHotel the rubber slippers let you keep a sharp lookout for leeches.apply tobacco water or neem oil on your legs upto knee.wear baggy shorts or loose trousers which u can pull up n check if they r climbing.if u see any leech climbing up,as they will try to avoid the oiled area, jus flick em away withsome twig or something.if u wear shoes they can get in and relaxedly get to work coz u cant remove shoes again n again.also u cant wriggle ur toes n look whats happening there with socks.
