I produced, directed, wrote and shot this for Lights! Canberra! Action! - a local film festival requiring us to make a short film in 10 days, incorporating 10 "secret" items, and on a theme. In 2010 the theme was "The Flipside" and the ten items to be included in the film were:
* The Pancake Parlour, Civic
* A Skateboard Park
* The Royal Australian Mint
* The Antipodean (a statue at the National Museum)
* A flip
* Queanbeyan
* Civic Flipside Exchange
* Garema Place clock
* On the Staircase (a statue in Civic)
* 666 ABC drink bottle
The film uses the 2010 theme of "The Flipside" in multiple ways. The overall storyline explores the "flip side" of online dating - meeting up in real life. But there are other more subtle "opposites" placed throughout the story: light and darkness; expectation and disappointment; good and evil; confidence and nerves; recreation and study; and the interaction of male and female.
OTHER PRODUCTION CREDITS
Andy: Jarred Powell
Jane: Nicole Nesbitt-Allan
Thief: Benedict Woods
Video Editor: Colin Simpson
Original Soundtrack: Carl Rafferty
Opening images/set: Judy McClintock
Shot entirely with a Canon 5DmkII and a 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM lens, and a RODE Videomic. I also had a 50mm f/1.4 in my bag as a backup for the poor lighting conditions, but I managed to have enough available light to use the f/4 at ISO1600. In hindsight, though, I could have got some lovely DOF effects if I'd used the f/1.4... oh well, maybe on my next film. :)
im really big fan of the credits. I like it. Very good story line and the shots were nice and clear. Nicole did well and I have worked with her before on 'Play us a song Rick' wich was last years lights canberra action. Keep it up and keep going with it
