@runningcockroach - Lend-Lease was from 1941 - 1945
1940 is a year before that
-
@hunterathome - Oh...and 'Lend lease' was from 1941 - 1945.
We fought off the Germans without U.S help....in 1940. A year BEFORE 'lend lease.
-
@hunterathome - Plus, the RAF fought the Battle of Britain with British made aircraft - not P-40's, P-400's, P-36's and fuel. :)
-
@hunterathome - Only seven Americans took part in the Battle of Britain. That's hardly 'saving our ass'. The U.S military and government did FUCK ALL to help us when the Nazis were trying to invade (aside from loaning us guns and food....which we had to pay the bill for).
-
@englishguy2010 Except for Eagle pilots, and Lend-Lease P-40's, P-400's, P-36's, fuel, & food, etc
-
@englishguy2010 true. i dont know why people say that either, we didnt save the UK. But we did wipe up the western front after we stopped island hopping in the pacific. Our bomber runs were superior.
-
@runningcockroach - Granted, but that still doesn't mean you "Saved our ass". You just helped us out. America played no part in Britains defence during the Battle of Britain.
-
@southlondon63 probably sheer number of guns. 8 deer rifles shooting at something will eventually make it break. everything after the first spits and hawks had cannons at least.
-
@englishguy2010 yes, but not a year before our massive material contributions to the UK's war effort
-
the movie has cheesy effects and explosions but the real plane action is just awesome. u wont ever see that again, this would all be CGI today.
We're an island race, we're born to fight. We stood alone in 1940, lead by the greatest leader ever born. True heroes of a bygone age.

@cheekyboy37 When I discover how the Germans were stopped at the shores of Britain and at the gates of Moscow, I am always amazed at how just everything seemed to work out perfectly. I have a firm belief there was a divine hand in it, and whenever I study it I can't help but think of that verse: "Thus far shall you come, and no farther, and here shall your proud waves be stayed" (Job 38:11).

@HenryvKeiper Hey heroes, Nationalism, self-determination, & sovereignty died in 1945! You Brits were fooled into fighting a war for the establishment of a "McWorld". Churchill rebuffed Hitler's numerous attempts to end the fighting w/ Britain, & even offered to step down as head of state. Churchill would not hear it & insisted on waging catastrophic war. Sure, in the end you Brits can claim victory, but victory cost you your empire, sole superpower status, & it left you bankrupt.

@Wehrwolf2012 I'm not a Brit, yo, I'm a Yank.

@HenryvKeiper Of course you are, yanks are the most misinformed people on earth. I should know, because I'm a yank. Nearly everything you accept as a given truth is a lie that is used to enslave you. You don't know this because "the ultimate control is controlling someone w/o their knowledge".

@Wehrwolf2012 But how do you know that the idea that said given truth is a lie used to enslave you is not, in fact, a given truth that is a lie used to enslave you? Oh noes, up is down, left is right :( *implodes!*
