  • Great old TV show. I wish they still had shows like this on TV. They were a lot of fun.

I love youtube for this reason - FLASHBACKS!

  • gosh, I remember watching this LIVE when I was 12 years old.....I remember when Bennett Cerf asked if "they ever get smothered by the fans around you"..... I can't believe it was already 42 years ago that this show was originally aired! And now since that time, John Daly, Bennett Cerf, Arlene Frances, & Steve Allen are all deceased! How time flies!!

  • "Brother, tear your mask off." Steve Allen was an absolute riot!!

  • Tom Smothers and Steve Allen in the same room at the same time! Those are two of the wittiest men who ever lived!

  • Great to see. Thank you U-Tube.

  • last year of wml. the smothers brothers would go on to piss off the censors quite a bit, mostly of tommy's doing. constantly trying to get away with as much political stuff they could. the country was coming apart in 68-70 and you'd think by television programming at the time america was still ozzy and harriet. tommy smothers is one of the greats!

  • Tommy is an outstanding Yoyo artist.

  • @GuitarSolosLiveOn "What's My Crime" aha. I'm pretty sure it's a comedic take on it.

  • @chaoscleaner Haha. I see what you did there!!! Very clever. Yeah, I meant "show", sorry. :)

  • @GuitarSolosLiveOn: Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa????

    And criminals watch pigs?

  • The original Smothers Brothers Show was a half hour sitcom where Tom played an angel sent to earth to help his brother Dick. It was terrible, and was canceled after one season. CBS still had them under contract, so they gave them a mid-season replacement hour variety series. CBS had tried many things on Sundays following Ed Sullivan from 9-10 PM and nothing clicked, so CBS felt they had nothing to lose. The show's success surprised everyone at CBS.

  • this was filmed at the same studio that Late Night with Letterman is shot at now
