@verticalsmurf All birds in the corvid family are considered to be extremely intelligent. All the different crows and magpies, blue birds. etc.

We've taken in a jackdaw. He's now really tame and we're not sure if he'll be ok if we release him. He has now started to imitate noises and cries when I leave the room - good job I work from home!

i really like watching your magpie videos.sadly these species is so anxious that they normally never come so close like some crows would do (see my crow videos).make some more videos, if you have the time.
I'm in Australia and our Magpies don't look like this, although they are just as intelligent. Where are you? How did you get a Magpie as a pet?

Yeah, your magpies are totally different. I'm in the UK. I volunteer at a wildlife hospital, and we got a magpie to hand-rear. He was too tame to release, so lives with us.

Wow! What a cute and smart bird. Do you do that with bird treats too? It could be like a reward for solving the puzzle! 5*

If I could find a bird treat he'd reliably eat, I would do. But it seems for him that just getting his toy back to play with is reward enough.
