Sandpoint has a thriving arts & culture community and one of the highlights is the historic Panida Theatre on Main Street. The Panida opened as a movie house in 1927. The literature I picked up
says when the theatre opened, the press praised it's Spanish
Mission styling for "beauty that can't be approached by any other
building in the city .. and equalled by few theatres in the West."
After falling into disrepair, then being rescued by local citizens in
1985, the Panida has long served as a hub of cultural activity in
Sandpoint and the north Idaho region. Karen Bowers is executive director
of the Panida.
