Great funk from Earth, Wind & Fire protegees the Pockets 1978 LP "Take It On Up". Produced by Verdine White and Robert Wright for Kalimba Productions. Judging by the cover, this is an album chock full'o'funk, but it's (sadly) not.
The Pockets were formed in 1975 in Baltimore, Maryland, and was later based in Los Angeles.
The band consisted of :
Albert McKinney (keyboards / vocals)
Gary Grainger (bass / vocals)
Larry Jacobs (vocals / percussion)
Charles Williams (trumpet / vocals / percussion)
Irving Madison (sax / vocals / percussion)
Kevin Barnes (trombone / vocals / percussion)
Jacob Sheffer (guitar / percussion)
and George Gray (drums / vocals / percussion)
