He takes interesting approaches in some places but I think you have to appreciate that. Gilels is one of my favorite interpreters of romantic music.

@sasha42196 You're welcome! I was surprised when I came across this recording because I did not realise Gilels had recorded it - not one of his more well known recordings for sure. Another obscurity I would be interested in is his recordings of the complete Tchaikovsky concerti which I noticed on ebay for sale (LP).
