@muffinkissesxxx base jumpers... they use ropes to come back up. These caves are in china, you could fit a New York City worth of skyscrapers in there. I read about them in National Geographic Magazine, nothing was mentioned about Rods though...

so... nukes project all that energy from an initial implosion? Because it's quite clear that the final reaction is a devastating explosion, which happens when the atoms become split and the particles repel away from each other (which is an explosion, not an implosion).
