I have a strange rattling sound that appears to be coming from either the engine bay or the dash. It is a complete nuisance.

As a side note if you're wondering about the check engine light it has appeared since I put my headers on and usually only comes on if I've been driving on the freeway for a while.

Also, the gauges and dash lights are all custom LED's by me.

  • Check your fenders, front bumper, headlights assembly, cat heat shield, radiator mounts, fan top shield... that things make noises above 2500 rpms if they are looses from somewhere... How do you make your dash light Red/Blue?

  • @sandscrith I converted my interior to LEDs. I actually make kits in all different colors for the HVAC and i can wire the rest of the dash switches with LEDs as well.

  • hey bro i have the same problem... driving me nuts you figure it out?

    let me know

    thanks

  • @dlux24svn it turned out my EGR pipe was touching the motor mount, which was causing the rattling. I secured the pipe and it's good now. some day I'll remove the EGR, but for now it does the job.

  • KA24DE with OBX headers, HKS cat-back, K&N intake, NGK plugs and wires. I couldn't get the EGR pipes to thread very well though, and thought that was the problem.. so i wielded them, but the sounds still persists.

  • its teh heat sheild rattling at a certain RPM mine does it at 2900. you probably bent it hitting a bump. just bend it back or rip it out. or leave it. no biggie.

  • might be the heat shield on your cat converter
