Bar code on wrestlers reminds me of those WWF figure from 99 that you pass through the titan tron and there music plays.

So you don't think a PPV match needs build up? But don't you need something to intrique someone to pay to see it?

Apparently you missed the point - I didn't say ALL PPV matches don't need a build up. I'm just saying that it gets ridiculous when every little match needs a 'backstory', no matter how flimsily put together. For instance, 'back in the day', WrestleMania 7 had Dino Bravo Vs. Texas Tornado; did that need a backstage skit where they bump in to each other, a promo on TV where one attacks the other or some dumb shit like that? No, they just announced the match was going to happen & that's enough.

A cliche that I really don't like is when a wrestler leaves Wrestlemania a champion only to loose the championship a few days later or the following month. Leaving Wrestlemania as a Champion used to be such a big deal but this has really brought it down.

rick rude was never world champ in wcw, sure he was the stupid Wcw international champion but that was never recognized by wwf at the time as a world champ, nor was it recog by pwi. it was not a world title uh dude

when guys who look, wrestle, and act like main eventers yet never win a world title. guys like rick rude, jake roberts, razor ramon are not able to win world titles in their era, and today you have tiny guys as world champs such as rey, jeff hardy, jeff jarrett, miz, etc.

another thing i dislike about commentators is when they say a wrestler is a triple crown champion nowadays. there are like 17 triple crown winners presently so the entire concept has lost its prestige and should never be mentioned again. i remember in 1992when bret hart won the wwf title and became triple crown winner. 1994 diesel became triple crown winner within 1 year! 1996 hbk became crown winner. it meant something back then.

how about former wcw world champs who never leave wrestlemania as world champ, they either lose their wwf belts or never win them. seems so predictable after a while. wm 8: flair loses belt. wm10: luger does not win it, wm19: booker t does not win whc title. also former wcw/nwa world champs who never win WWE title in wwf: king Harley race, dusty Rhodes, lex luger, booker t, ddp, scott steiner...

I somewhat disagree with you on having faces always win at the very last match of wrestlemania. you have a good point, but if a face always wins then it will become painfully predictable. for instance wrestlemania 1-15 always had the good guy win. but it got old. perhaps if every five manias the good guy wins, but then have a heel win, like miz at wm27, just as a cool shocker. i did not expect miz to win. but, face vs face at last match is good idea: undertaker vs cena or rock vs cena

here is one: my classmate in high school told me this and he never watched wrestling - he said that one week the face would win in the match, but next week the heel would win. it seems that way - 50-50 between two guys in a feud. that is why I really cherish ppv feuds where only one guy always wins and not just two ppvs in a row. for instance, in 2005 batista beat triple h at 3 ppvs in a row. that was shocking because what wwe usually does is have the heel win at next ppv by count out or dq

also, didn't paul bearer turn on undertaker twice like in 1996 with mankind and again in 2010 with kane. that idea should not happen. also when the giant got fired from nwo in 1996 and was re-hired by Hogan later down the road in nwo Hollywood. that should not happen.
