Giliw Ko was the first film produced by the newly formed LVN Pictures, Inc. in 1938 and subsequently released in 1939 with no less than President Manuel Quezon attending the film's premiere at the Metropolitan Theater. The film stars top matinee idols of the time, Fernando Poe Sr. and Ely Ramos. Completing the cast are newcomers Mila del Sol and Fleur de Lis, who later changed her screen name to Mona Lisa. Giliw Ko is a romantic musical, in the tradition of the zarzuela, typical of the era and features such classic songs as Tunay na Tunay and Ang Buhay ng Artista. The story centers around Mila del Sol, who plays a barrio lass dreaming of a singing career on radio (a novelty at that time) in Manila. Although quite fond of her childhood sweetheart, Fernando Poe Sr., she becomes infatuated with the son of their hacienda landlord, Ely Ramos, who happens to be a successful musician. He takes Mila t o Manila to make her a popular radio singer. Although her first radio broadcast is a success, the naive probinsiyana is disheartened to know that Ely is already engaged to a pretty Manila socialite, Fleur de Lis. In the end Mila realizes how much Poe means to her and she returns to the province to be with him.

Maraming Salamat!

Hi! Thank you very much for uploading these vintage films in youtube! At least, I won't have to wait for Cinema One to air these movies just to see them. Can you also upload Pista Sa Nayon(1948) and Sarung Banggi(1947)? Thank you very much!
