Here are 2 notable clips from Freda Payne's movie debut in the racially-fueled drama"Book of Numbers"(1973).She has a screen presence that is dramatically compelling!Although the film depicts vivid racial tensions in depression-era Eldorado NC.,it is a good movie, and Freda Payne is magnificent. She plays Kelly Simms, the girlfriend of an ambitious numbers-racket street hustler.
She kind of resembles Diane Carroll.

Yeah somewhat, especially as Diahann Carroll appeared in the hit movie"Claudine"(1974) with the same kind of hairstyle as Freda has here.Diahann and Freda are both very beautiful stars and gifted performers.

Kenesto- I read about this film in an old magazine story about Freda back in the late '70's. Thanks for sharing this... Freda is really a wonderful actress!

Yes,Freda was something of a regular in features from Jet,Ebony,Sepia and other magazines during the 1970's.They followed her life rather meticulously as she was the toast of the black media entertainment circuit."Book Of Numbers"is a good movie that got sidelined as another blaxploitation action film when released. However controversy withstanding, this clip shows that the movie is a well-directed drama with Freda making an amazing debut presence in a demanding melodramatic role. You're welcome!
