More like Manilow zings Merton. It was a pretty lame joke, and the patting, along with "he's so talented", just made Merton come across as a not-very-bright child being complimented by an adult who had given up on expecting anything better.

@Ileana105 that's Merton
-
@MattTheOak - what are you talking about?? Barry is very low key and a gentleman, especially with Paul makes that cruel joke, he has to feel some kind of hurt that his dad has only come around twice in his lifetime. I"m sure he feels awkward about that and Paul shouldn't go there when he is sensitive about subject just for a laugh....

kinda BULLSHIT story about his dad
-
No - it's condescending, I think.

That comment about the "being lucky he didn't take back the tape recorder" was lousy. This idiot needs to take some lessons on compassion. I would fire his bleeping - - - off the show. What a moron. He disgusts me.
-
Manilow is most certainly not charming here - he comes across as a patronising c*nt when he's interacting with Paul Marton.

@ChaosXify i remember it with michael Aspel. showing my age a bit tho

kinda sad story about his dad.
I've only ever heard Barry Mailow spoken about negatively because of his msic, but watching this; he's a really nice guy and you got ot love Paul. Wish I could see the whole interview.
