This is what I like to call ''vintage on vintage.'' A number that was vintage to 1928 recorded using a modern process and played on a modern phonograph which are now both vintage themselves.

I love this! I am fortunate enough to own a copy of this record. I think the flip side is "Banks of the Wabash?" Another favourite of mine. I am also blessed to own a little table top phonograph. Of all the records in my collection, this is one of my favourites.

The quintessential recording of this. The Shannon Quartet were great! Thanks for posting.

Rocky, You'll have to put it up so we can compare. ;-) YF, J.

I have an acoustically recorded copy of the record, also by the Shannon Quartet, on Victor 19336, recorded in April, 1924.

Is that real and functioning? THAT'S AMAZING! Don't suppose you know where I could get one...?
Fave-ed. It's amazing that such a piece can still function. ...where can I get one?

Just2w4tch, A good acoustic portable can be had fairly cheaply on E-Bay. That's where I got most of my phonographs, but not this one. This one came from a friend-Thanks Adam! Regards, J.
