It was one of my favourites when I was a kid :)

you're correct - it's one of those "things" that my friends and I would argue over as young teenagers.
Over a six pack we'd argue if it was a site gag, or the artists didn't know theater. My position was it was a site gag because in the 40's, EVERYONE knew theater, and they were in an industry where they got a lot of stage actors to do voice work.
How do you like my argument?? Sounds even better over a six pack!!!
