@fooglebuzz If you look up pictures of her in full makeup, her skin doesn't look bad at all. Maybe it was just stress?
-
@NameOfRain Me too I found myself hoping she doesn't screw up
-
The maikos are very pretty. ^_^
-
I'm sure she was nervous! I was nervous for her just watching!
-
normally they wouldnt let a girl with such bad skin to pass.... its bad but the white makeup makes her skin look cakey, and quite frankly, worse.

@Sotkai11 Ohhh that's what minarai is okay
-
@xShadowxPhoenix After she passes the test and before her debut, she goes through a job-shadow period in which she is known as a minarai. She goes to parties and talks to clients, play games, but does not sing or dance.
-
Bu something I don't understand, she was allowed to go entertaining before her misadeshi and eriako (I forget how it's spelled) They can go see customers first?
-
@thesecretpathoflife Thanks, after looking at maiko/geiko pictures on flikr the kiku family is all over it, and that one is her, I couldn't see until I saw a 'street' look where she wasn't wearing a wig

@thesecretpathoflife i mean...some red lip paint in case it does disappear.
@Blizzardfrost Very careful placement of the glass or cup along the inside ridge of the lower lip. This is especially important with Sake since the alcohol can take off lip color. If you watch the misedashi of Kikuno and Kikuyu you'll see a good example of the Sake cup pattern.
Then Kikuno places the cup down on the tray like " a flower petal falling" with the artful skill of grace.

Notice they are Iki. This is the essence of transformation from modern living influence to the arts and Echiketto of the Koryu.
One must achieve this balance and decorum from focus and mental attitude of acceptance. It is not taught, you become Iki.
