As requested by some subscribers, here is a video where I outline the major resources that I used in my journeys through the Korean language thus far.... may you befriend Stephen Revere as I did!

"Survival Korean" by Steven Revere (he has a series of books, and this is the one i used)
Here is a link to find it online: http://www.amazon.com/Survival-Korean-study-written-Arirang/dp/B001RFOD96
Here is a Korean link for the book: http://book.naver.com/bookdb/book_detail.nhn?bid=1947530

Here is the Korean Particles site where I taught myself 이/가 은/는 에 을/를 ...
http://learnkoreanlanguage.com/Particles.html
This site ( http://learnkoreanlanguage.com/learn-korean-beginners.html ) also has a lot of good free lessons for beginners. Print off the homework and do it!!

These are the two websites where I learned a lot of natural expressions and vocabulary.

http://www.koreanclass101.com
[ For this site, you have to sign up for free, then you have access to tons of free lessons and videos. I used this site for about a year regularly, just listening to a lesson 3 or 4 times, taking notes, practicing, etc. There is also the option to become a "Premium Member" by paying... which I haven't done ;) ]

http://www.talktomeinkorean.com
[ This site is amazing, lots of videos, cute conversations, creative lessons, active comment replies, and a great chance to really improve your Korean with personalized lessons. Just check it out!! ]

  • hmmm... could you watch a Korean movie without subtitles?

  • @Theinnocentdream ~~ i've done it.. but i usually end up cozying up to whoever i'm next to in order to confirm who is doing what.. and why someone suddenly started crying. i can get the jist, but it's still hard for me to understand fully. in conversations, i can ask questions to confirm my understanding, but a movie just talks at you, and they go pretty quickly >.< thanks for your comment!

  • Teach Yourself Korean is the book I'm using! I really like it because it gives you a dialogue in korean, new vocabulary words in each unit, and lots of great exercises. You learn new words and at the same time you learn sentences and expressions. It also comes with 2 cds, which lets you can hear the correct pronunciation of words and sentences.

I also have a korean friend that I ask questions every time I finish a chapter.

Learning korean has been really fun! I hope to visit Korea one day!

  • when i was learning japanese, my japanese friend told me the wrong things on purpose... I wasnt happy!!!

  • @XxlilxvannaxX

  • um the youtube account guy tht u talked about, how do u spell the utube account name, yanisan or something?

  • You speak so well, now i have faith that i will be at ur level soon. (hopefuly)

  • Thank you! I'm going to the library tomorrow! [:

  • Hey Kerri.

I'd also like to recommend seemile.com

Jenny Lee's class is the best for learning grammar.

And there's a channel on Youtube called "sweetandtasty". She doesn't really teach the grammar, but she mainly focuses on expanding vocabulary.

The rest I learn at my Korean language school in my town.

  • @expatkerri OOOOOOhhhhh okay :) just wondering :P
