Artherosclerosis - animation on inserting a stent

Artherosclerosis is still one of the main causes of death in the western world. It's caracterized by the acumulation of lypids on the artery wall, which leads to its obstruction (stenosis), reducing blood flow. In these cases, it's necessary to introduce a guide wire to slide a ballon and a stent (a tiny metalic mesh) to the stenosis location. the baloon insuflate, deobstructing the artery and restoring normal blood flow. The stent will remain in place, assuring the artery will be kept open. However, sometimes, the organism reacts to the stent, whether it is by reestenosis or by inflamation, reducing once again the blood flow.
