  • I was there and it WAS fantastic, there were hundreds more people in there than there should have been because loads of people climbed in through windows to the toilets. The crowd were going mental throughout, by the end you could hardly see the band because so many people had climbed up the front of the stsge.

  • the best version this song. The passion and emotion is great here. what a great song. Morrissey's never ending whaling at the ned of The best ending of any smiths's song. I understand the Salford concert was legendary.

  • @oldskoolheretic Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me is fantastic drumming. Up to that point, he was tame and dull.

  • great... wish i could have been there.. 10 yrs before i was born.

  • Anyone else think Joyce got a lot smoother (and more interesting) on the drums as their music progressed?

You look at footage of early gigs, and he looks a bit stiff and sketchy on the kit, but I have to say, he really improved. If you look at him here, especially on the Rubber Ring outro beat, he looks a lot more loose and comfortable. Plus, compare the drumming on their earlier songs to, say, Death of a Disco Dancer. Joyce really shines on that track.

  • Amazing!!

  • cheers for this - first time i've seen it live with the rubber ring intro - my fave of all time!!

  • thanks. that's an amazing story. I envy you! that must have been the event of a lifetime. I have to say that it looks like all hell broke lose. how it must have been to be there. one can only wounder.

  • to pretend to be happy,

    would only be idiocy.

Ha! So good. I just might die with a smile on my face,

    after all
