Having watched him a lot now, I would say that his problem is that he does not seem to manage to try and take himself seriously. Whether this is because he thinks he is too good anyway and why he should bother or because he knows he is not good enough and then, what would the point of it all be, I do not know - or care. But the paying audiences deserve more.
