The "vacation with pay" was actually real unlike how it is portrayed here. Typically it was 30 days. This was not common in the U.S. at that time, neither was nearly free healthcare and subsidized medication which Germans also enjoyed. When the NSDAP came to power in Germany, unemployment was about 30%. Circa five years later, it was about 2%.
