Natalia Lomeiko (violin)
Yuri Zhislin (viola)
Olga Sitkovetsky (piano)

This was a live performance given in a radio studio for broadcast.

Vocalise = an exercise or song to be sung on one syllable. Rachmaninof wrote this for a Ukranian singer in 1912.

I'm pleased that this can be found now with the legions of Vocalise recordings in The Web and YouTube. It's a lovely, pure performance of this very popular piece indeed and the piano trio format is unusual.

(This recording of the radio studio performance was not and is not commercially available or otherwise available than social media sharing such as this, which indicates fair use copyright exceptions apply to non-commercial sharing in this way. B.B.C. R.3, U.K. "In Tune" July 09.)

Sorry that the spelling of Ms. Lomeiko's name changes in the video. Win. Movie Maker was doing that all by itself and I can't manage to change it.

  • very moving! Thank you

  • The name of the violist is Yuri Zhislin and he's the one who made this arrangement

...A quick google search brings up something - Natalia Lomeiko's website ( natalialomeiko dotcom ), where there's a contact email, probably to an agent. (I thought the site was empty but for huge photos, but discovered you've to scroll horizontally.) So, you could put the question about what is the arrangement, and could you gain & play a copy if it's the trio's own. The show was "In Tune" with S. Rafferty, BBC Radio 3 (UK), some time in July 2009. They must still have the music or its info.

As far as I remember, from what the radio announcer (Sean Rafferty) said in the presence of the musicians, before or after they performed in the studio, it is their own arrangement - or particularly one of theirs' (I think maybe the viola player.)

Maybe it is possible to find some contact details online for the musicians and request they allow you play the arrangement, with a copy given or sold. I guess they would, if you could find them.

  • @alshraphaelia if you ever find out i would appreciate it if you would let me know...i'm trying to get this together at my school

  • The most beautiful version in youtube!!! Respect.

  • do you know where i can get a copy of the score for trio?

  • so. effing. good.
