  • Wow... at 39 seconds pretty darn good tracking with that steering setup.

  • LB ain't no fool.... :P

  • I've just placed an order for the GT550s, along with a polycarbonate Grave Digger bodyshell (I rolled my Clod quite badly last week and cracked the stock body in a few places) and a Thunder Tech Racing Rage chassis. I've read that the 550 motors will fit at a push, but often have the solder tabs snapped off by the suspension arms if you don't space the ball joints and cut notches in the arms. I'm not sure I want to be that drastic, so I'll probably only try them once I've fitted the Rage. Sorry!

  • Sounds good! Keep me posted! I will try to do the same to mine once the silvercans die! But so far so good!

  • I'm probably going to give the HPI GT550 motors a go soon - they're only about £6.50 each online.

When I got my Clod (also second-hand), two of the central suspension ball-joints were unscrewed by a couple of mm before I tightened them up. Maybe inserting a couple of washers on each would give enough clearance for the 550s, otherwise I'll be looking at a racing chassis for more room.

I think this is one of the cheapest ways of injecting a ton of fun into a Clod Buster. Everyone should try it!

  • Great! Be sure to post some video if you get that going! I'd be interested to run 550-sized motors as well. Hope there's enough clearance!!

  • Haha lolz...Are you Mr. T? Or should I say Mr. TXT?

I pity the fool dat don't run 14.4v

  • I found this video just after winning a second-hand GT ESC on eBay (£23 inc. postage!) for my Super Clod Buster.

It fits perfectly on the mounts for the old MSC servo, and the second battery fits rather nicely lengthways under the bonnet.

I just tried it on stock silver 540s down at the park and rolled it a couple of times when braking, before realising I had the polarity wrong on the motors so it was going straight into "reverse".

That's the most fun I've ever had with a RC car!

  • HPI's Speed GT Speed ESC (the one found in E-Savage)

  • Great stuff what speed controller are you using?
