I want that little steam trolley!!
-
@Tinsby Actually it's an eight the front "wheel" is the flywheel.

A ten wheeler no less! Never knew there was a steam turbine anywhere that ran, let alone even existed. I'd love to see a cutaway of the drive system IE: how the turbine speed is reduced and converted to operate the drive wheels. Nice to know they preserved it.
Very interesting so see thank you!

This one is locomotive 71 that u can find in Grängesberg at GBBJ museum, u can also find the turbine locomotive 73 that will be running again in a near future.
-
@CGT867 Yes I definently will film it when it runs. The gearbox is broken in that locomotive so it has to be replaced first.
-
@jag70 Thank you. I hope you will be able to get a video of it when it runs. A very unique locomotive!
-
@CGT867 There are 3 turbine steam locomotive in Grangesberg and none of them are running at the moment. But one of them will be running soon. I got a video of them that was recorded 9th may 2011. Turbine steam locomotive. Dalarna sweden

@ManOfMeans if i may be honest, i'd rather see old Freight locomotives doing what they were built to do. I.E. PULL FREIGHT. yes, they'd wear out faster, but the fact that they still exist is clear sign that someone is caring for them. Union Pacific 3985 draws far more attention pulling the occasional freight train that it does pulling passengers.

@troy12n Tone down the language. It;s just a whistle, nothing to get all worked up about.

Never knew they put steam turbines in trains...
When was this filmed? Does it still run?

This video sequence is from 1990, but the steam turbine engine is still running in Grängesberg, Sweden.
