Venus Ring of Fire June 2, 2012 Amazing but true view of Venus 1-degree away from the Sun. This position produces what is known as the Rinf of Venus Fire. You saw what we saw. There are clouds and Venus. The ring presents itself a number of times during the imagin sequence. This is an extremly hard view to image and not many will be viewed.

We hope you enjoy this video. http://www.cosmicobsession.com

What you are seeing is the nightside of venus. Picture a crescent moon, is there a sphere blocking it out? Of course not, but the angle at which the sun strikes the planet venus at this angle, just days before we wont see any of the day side at all [night side only when it is in transit] we see a sliver of daylight wrapping around the edge of the planet. This is called 1 degree phase, for comparison, on the opposite side of the sun it is at 100% phase, when we would gaze at only the day side.
