I think they wanted to make the trailer look like the original movie trailer did back in 1984.
Watch the original 1984 trailer for the movie and you'll see the same thing.

they started hyping this game back in 06 I think got pushed back so much because everyone wasn't on board.

Woohoo! Gettin' this game next week, and I can't wait! Been waitin' a long time for it, it seems! I wish they'd befriend Slimer like they did in the animated series though. He was kind of a good guy in the second film...
