Nigel Kershaw OBE speaks at M&L Conference 2011

Highlights of the annual Management and Leadership Conference hosted by the Management and Leadership Network, held in the University of Ulster, Belfast. 2011's speakers were Sir Christopher Bland, Rhona Quinn, Nigel Kirshaw and Stephen Magorrian. The conference was chaired by David Meade and attended by entrepreneurs, managers and academics alike.

Nigel joined The Big Issue in 1995 as Executive Chairman and MD. In any one
year The Big Issue generates up to £15 million through its 145,000 weekly
circulation with £8 million earned by 3,000 homeless vendors (who are in
effect entrepreneurs). It creates profit and changes lives. Big Issue Invest is a
pioneering provider of finance to the social economy and as CEO Nigel is now
financing ground-breaking, innovative and profitable social enterprises that have business solutions that seek to prevent, cure and dismantle poverty. The Big Issue story contains lessons for all managers and Nigel shared these within his talk entitled 'Business That Transforms'.
