There is one question this aspiring sailor has: I know you sail using jib a lot and that's fine, I know that you're not in that big of a hurry. Per say someone is in a hurry and they decided to raise the main. Would you advise that or is there some safety risk to consider when the main is up in moderate conditions? I ask because I remember you saying in one video that you wouldn't raise the main in some choppy water(insane, I agree).

@killyouin1punch We often sail with less than the maximum sail area up. Usually this is to balance the boat so she will self steer. The designer recommends that the Vega be sailed at no more than 15 degrees of heel for optimum performance. With too much sail up, the boat will become difficult to handle before she becomes unsafe, though, IMO, the one is nearly the same as the other.

@smacdiesel the solar panels were replaced a couple of weeks after this video was shot. We have since re-wired the panels and charge controller.
