Following the minesweeper series, some weeks ago i had the idea of turning minesweeper into a drum machine.

Since then, university course started, so I had a full schedule and lots of work to do.

Anyway I had to do it, so here it comes the amazing "Minesweeper Music (Drum Kit edition)"!!!

------------------------------

How does it work?

As you see, each square horizontally it's a sound, and vertically it corresponds to half a beat.

When you press with mouse left button one of the squares, it activates. When you press it with right button, it deactivates.
The left counter number refers to the number of the channel in use. Squares pressed are remembered in current channel and saved when channel is changed.

Use channels for music transitions. Change from one channel to another using mouse left button to go up or right button to go down.

Right counter number refers to beats per minute. Change as the other one.

There's 256 channels (from 0 to 255) and bpm goes up to 255 as well.

(I need help with music terms in english in order to explain it well)

Try it at:

PD: Make a song & post it as a response!

More advanced users:
Change sound samples for other ones just changing any wav file for another one with the same name.

The name of the file refers to the vertical line of squares it will be played.

Just try to play with as many combinations as you wish and try to mix predefined samples with melody, bass and vocals.

Rate, Comment, tell your friends &
Enjoy!!!

  • is that useable on a Mac?

  • nope, sorry :(

  • good job

  • Thanks!

  • Hey,im having problems with the saving thing, but its awesome still!

  • When you close the application, it doesn't save anything.

Explained better: When you change the channel, it keeps stored the squares with mines, retrieving them back when you return to that channel.

You'll see in the video that I had previously set channels 1 to 5 sequentially, and left channel 0 to start the video.
