A fan-made re-imagining of the Rare video game "Dinosaur Planet," which was not only delayed until after release of the Nintendo Gamecube after being developed for the N64, but ended up being cosmetically adapted for the Star Fox series, simply because someone at Nintendo said: "Hey! That lead character looks somewhat like Fox McCloud!"
It's not that "Star Fox Adventures" wasn't a decent game in itself, but rather that Dinosaur Planet would have been far more impressive as an N64 game; instead, it ended up making a sub-par next-gen game that only looked good because of certain next-gen special effects and the audio quality of voiceovers.
"Star Fox Adventures" was a disappointment for me simply because I thought there was more of mystical story to be told...one that was unique in how the key subject matter was a brave few relatively small and weak mammalian creatures trying to make it in a reptilian (or perhaps bird-like, since we are talking about the dinosaurs) world.
It could have been really inventive, but instead it ended up being little more than a mission-quest for that daredevil space ace, Fox--who, by the way, is still much better off staying inside the cockpit than getting out and shooting things on foot...because those gameplay mechanics just don't seem to work for him.

  • Ah. What a beautiful video. See? Dinosaur Planet could have been better left off on its own, and this video really shows it. I'm inspired by this, and I'd like to do something with that inspiration. Good job.

Also, the music at 3:04. I can't find it, and yes, I looked, but maybe not hard enough. I'm really sorry to ask, but what is it called?

  • Closing credits from "Braveheart" by James Horner. It's a very good soundtrack.

  • @Teqsinterrier Do you think Rare will release this game on the Xbox Live Arcade just like they did to Banjo Kazooie and Perfect Dark?

  • @TheFoxshot I'd say 100% unlikely, since the entire game save a few characters was ported to the GameCube as an installment of one of Nintendo's key franchises.

I'm still curious to see how close to the Rare original the new version of GoldenEye on Wii will be...

  • @TBoneTony cargirl lol

  • That was awesome.

I still would have perfered Dinosaur Planet without the StarFox characters, but I did like the way they improved the visuals in the Gamecube and the way Krystal was designed, But I would like her more as a cargirl instead of a foxgirl

  • @Xeninicune dinosaur planet indeed could have made it on its own but u can blame Shigeru Miyamoto and all of Nintendo for cancelling it and tampering with Rare's game.

  • @TheFoxshot dude Rare's GoldenEye was way better than the one on the wii. The new one sucks because it has Daniel Craig as James bond. Thats just half of why it sucks.

  • Because StarFox Adventures sucked in every way possible, Nintendo owes Rare an apology for ruining their game.

  • fun fact, the name of the trisarotop from Diddy Kong Racing was Tricky, and ya know that game was partially developed by rare, Star Fox Adventures, you figure out the rest of the connection

  • @Teqsinterrier Oh and i would say that the new Golden Eye for the Wii will end up being pretty good, it wont beat Rare's goldeneye but i have a feeling it will end up being a pretty good game. I am only concerned for activision because they tend to end up making good games but also end up making worst ones, so i hope they dont screw the game up.

  • @Teqsinterrier I agree with you, i wanted to see how this game would be like without the connection of Starfox and the game looked good by itself, but seeing how Rare is right now I too would doubt it being released on arcade. anyway nice video i really like the song it fits in great.
