I have always felt deeply about philosophy and after interviewing my niece I see why!

  • I was never aware of racism up until fourth grade. I loved the backstreet boys back then so this white girl and I were discussing how cute they were, how good they sing. The white boy that sit next to us asked "You like backstreet boys?" When I said yes he said "But you're black." I was so shocked and didn't know what to say. Never had someone tell me before that I'm black like there was something wrong with that. For a long time I never admitted liking anything about white people in public.

  • @lemonde49 Oh wow... that is so sad... so, how do you feel now?

  • HA!HA!HA! That was such a beautiful suave most simple approach to present a complex subject to a child. Interesting she has no concept of being old, we learn to accept old age and dieing. She is a darling intelligent bean. I mean being HA! HA! HA! Just playing with you. Mrs. Tanya you are a beautiful intelligent asset to the tube, and our beautiful world. HOTEP/PEACE

  • @wakanu7 LOL you are so funny! I want to redo this video. She's 8 now and I hardly think she'll be able to fit on my lap!

  • Seeing this reminds me of how I was when I was a kid. I wasn't aware of my skin color until someone older than me pointed it out. I knew I was different among other kids (I'm African-American). I used to be fine with myself. But the environment I grew up in basically showed that being dark skinned is unwanted or looked at as ugly. Its been rammed into my head so much now it has effected me personally. I have a bit of self hate due to it and I'm trying my hardest to remove it.

  • hell... i love being black dammit... fuck shit... if i was any other color... i wouldn't like myself cuz its so fucking plain.... im black and im proud dammit.... i love my skin color.... I LOVE my skin color dammit

  • @TonyaTko your niece is to cute and a bright girl:)

  • This is a fantastic approach to letting our children know that they have the ability to come up with their own ideas, and not let popular beliefs sway them in the wrong direction.

  • I found out when blacks entered my school in 7th grade. School went from a learning fun place to hell on earth. All they did was throw rocks at us, dare us to fight & watch to catch us to beat us up. Distrubed clases all the time. I thought, ok. Blacks fight for equal rights which they should have had from the get go. But, instead of acting human they acted like animals. Now they have the rights but don't respect them. Most anyway

  • @TonyaTko Ever since that incident I started noticing every little thing about how white people are being racist towards blacks. How they talk down to me or look at me a certain way. But now I realize the more I dwell on what people think about me and how they talk to me, the more I lose my self-esteem and self-worth. I'm still more comfortable being around black people but I no longer think white people are better than me because skin color doesn't make the person, character does.
