the guitar pick-up reacts to any metal mooving next to it with a certain frequency: the strings. Now the weight in the powerball is also metal.
Producing the sound has nothing to do with the generator in the powerball.

The metals in the powerball are non-ferrous and thus do NOTHING to the pickups. The pickups register the unshielded EM energy leaking from the powerball's internal alternator. If you took a normal powerball and tried this, IT WOULDN'T WORK.

Wrong. The weights arelead. Lead isn't ferric and will not generate an EMF.
It has EVERYTHING to do with the micro-alternator inside the dyno.
I do this for a living, btw.
