The plan to use gold includes the rich using their federal reserve notes to buy and hoard gold and then promote a gold standard leaving those who could not buy gold holding federal notes with no value. The only real value of the economy is in the GDP which includes production of goods and the collection of taxes from consumption of those goods to maintain things like roads, bridges, schools, etc. The gold standard plan is just another plan to hoard money.

Hopefully. However people in power rarely want to change things. You can see now how impotent the government is trying to balance the budget. The only reason Obama care got through was because of the corporate lobbies behind it, but it won't fix the healthcare drag on the economy. I think it's realistic that some parts of the economy will collapse, but there are always people who innovate and make money. And Americans really need to change their attitudes in order to compete with Asia.
