This is actually out-of-date information. The film DID get a U.S. distributor, Newmarket Films, the company behind the distribution of such films as Memento, Donnie Darko, and, ironically enough, The Passion of the Christ.

@ricefarmer I take offense to your assertion that the average American is stupid, uneducated I can understand that point, but not stupid. Simply because one is misinformed or swept up in a cultural propaganda machine, does not make them stupid. I once was a tongue-talking pentecostal creationist, and now I am an atheist Physicist. It is not that I am permanently stupid, the only difference is that I was misinformed, and emotionally tied to a cult. I just needed accurate information.

Think thats bad???? The local churches threatened to boycott the cinema in my town if they showed The Golden Compass...So, the cinema relented and didn't show it....I mean its THE GOLDEN COMPASS!!!!
