Christine Minnehan, a tenants rights lobbyist in Sacramento briefs the Santa Monica Rent Control Board on the perils of Prop. 98, on the June 3rd, California Primary Ballot.

NO ON 98 -- The Hidden Agendas Scheme. Wealthy landlords spent millions to get Prop. 98 on the ballot to eliminate rent control and other important renter protections like the fair return of deposits. 98 could also stop future water projects, destroy local land-use planning, erode environmental protections and lead to higher taxpayer costs.

YES ON 99 -- The Homeowners Protection Act. Prop. 99 is real eminent domain reform: it prohibits government from taking homes to transfer to private developer. 99 is pure reform: no hidden agendas and no adverse consequences like Prop. 98. www.no98yes99.com

  • 98 went down in flames!!! The voters of California are too smart of be bought by the slimy, sleazy, fraudulent tactics of the yes on 98 people.

    THANK YOU CALIFORNIA!!!

  • California has spoken!!!

98 went down in flames!! The Voters of the Great State of California said NO to the slimy, sleazy Pro 98 people!! Pro 98 crowd should LEAVE California IMMEDIATELY!!! We are too smart for you!!!

    Thank you Californians!!!

  • I lived in an apartment building in Santa Monica where several tenants owned houses and would stay in their unit because the rent was so cheap because of rent control. Some would sublet and would make more money than the landlord. If a landlord had the right to evict drug dealers, gang members, loud tenants, everyone would be a lot happier and there would be better communities. In Los Angeles these people are protected and a landlord has to pay them to leave their property. YES ON 98

  • BTW, for you renters who think Prop 99 protects you better than Prop 98, you should know that Prop 99 (by the government and big developers who like eminent domain) provides that the only people who are protected from eminent domain are homeowners who have lived in their property for 12 months or more. It does NOT protect rental properties at all so your home can be condemned and taken away from you. Quit being stupid, read up!

  • 98 would be devastating to the elderly in mobile home parks. Park owners will raise the rent far beyond what people would pay, and the park landlord would then take back the owners mobile homes that they could not sell.

    HATE 98

    NO ON 98

    YES ON 99

    99 is FINE

  • i can't believe only 211 people have watched this... sad.
