At 20:35 A General Alarm was transmitted for a Structure Fire on Walter Court.Chiefs 30,31,32 Truck 1 Engines 3,12,13 Rescue 9 and Quint 14 responded.
Responding units were advised by Dispatch that multiple calls were being recieved and that there was a victim within. Chief of Department Salvatore Formica arrived first with a 2 story colonial with heavy fire showing from the front of the house. Numerous neighbors advised him that the female occupant was still in the house. The Chief geared up and entered the house on the exposure 4 side. He crawled in and found the female occupant on the floor of the kitchen. The victim was removed and attended to by Commack Ambulance who requested a Medi-Vac. The patient was flown to Stony Brook Hospital. Truck 1 arrived and setup. Quint 14 pulled up and stretched a 2 1/2 line and started an aggresive attack. Engine 13 laid in to 14 from a hydrant. Due to the amount of fire in the structure a defensive attack was launched. Engine 3 picked up a second hydrant and fed Truck 1. Truck 1 knocked down the fire on the second floor and advised the the roof had collapsed in a few locations. Kings Park FD was requested for an RIT team and East Northport FD. to standby with an Engine. After the fire was knocked down hose teams advanced into the house and knocked down numerous hot spots. Crews remained on scene till 23:00 doing overhaul. " - (http://commackfd.org )
