    This was Tim Burton's very first movie. Yes there is no dark or gothic-like themes in this movie, but who cares? After the success of this box-office comedy from 1985, Tim Burton was able to work on his more dark and gothic-like movies starting with Beetlejuice, then Batman, Edward Siscorhands, Batman Returns, Nightmare Before Christmas, Mars Attacks, and all his other projects later on in his career. Pee-Wee's Big Adventure is, was, and always will be a Tim Burton movie.

    Isn't it ironic how Tim Burton's most generally greatest film (according to critics and the public on Rotten Tomatoes) is the most un-Burtonesque film of his career?
