When you are at the top of the pyramid or the ladder you are in the hospital dying without any purpose and without any use for your money that you now have.

Interesting and very clear presentation. I took a break from my work in the computer games industry to do a full time yoga course for some months. That enriched my life even if it was to step down from the career ladder for a while. I look back on it today as something I really remember.

Nice example in my opinion. In my case, I am still quite young (23) but still I devote myself to education, to running a small business and I am engaged in communal politics as well, and yet I haven't found my final career destination and therefore, I would say that imagining my career development as a pyramid to a ladder grasps the reality of career building really well because, as youve said and as far as I belive, pursuing only one area of career development can make it a really big deal.
