Grace is such a beautiful little girl! She seems so scared and yet trying to figure out what just happened. I hope all is well and she is happy with her new family.
We, too, were at the Dolton (2004) for our adoption.

It appears this child was not prepared for the transfer at all. She appears to be in total shock. The caregivers did not seem to offer much comfort during the transfer, they just handed her to you and left. The fortunate thing here is you (the mother) handled this with incredible patience and love, totally focused on the needs of the child, The father is not so bad either. What is your opinion of the hand off process? Maybe it just appears worse than it really was. I hope so.

There is no transition process at all - just the way they do it. Very hard on babies and parents. I was terrified for the first 48 hours or so. I can't imagine how hard it was for Grace. The process was a little better when we adopted our son - maybe 15 minutes or so of "getting to know you" time. My poor husband wanted so badly to hold her, but she was TERRIFIED of him. I finally sent him out of the room. Reply by Mom (Dana)

She is sooo darling. Why didn't you pick her up-she really looked like she wanted you to hold her?

I wanted to pick her up (and cuddle) more than anything, but earlier at the hotel (before we started filming) she would start screaming if I tried. So, I just say there with her hoping (and praying) she would get through it. Thankfully she did and is now a happy, confident, smart, beautiful 6 year old girl!
