While there is no substitute for survival skills training, especially learning to make a fire even in wet conditions, a lighter is one piece of gear your survival kit should never be without. That being said, there may be serious issues with your choice of lighter which you may not have thought of - namely, can it perform in wet or cold conditions? Will it still have enough fuel to be useful when you need it? These are no concern for the County Comm Peanut Lighter. Not only is it lightweight, compact, and made of durable stainless steel, but it is sealed air- and watertight. It's reliable flint mechanism will remain dry and trouble-free, ensuring you will have fire when your life depends on it. At $11, this is one piece of gear you can't afford not to have. 9/10 (Available from www.countycomm.com)

  • People keep saying you can't light a wet bic. Well ,this is true, you can't. But guess what, you can dry the middle of the striking wheel out in 20 seconds and presto, you have fire. Also, Keep a bic close to your body in cold weather to keep the gas warm and you will have no prob. Peanut = good. Bic=good. Each fire method has it's advantages and disadvantages. Carry more than one method of fire making into the bush!! Make sure your peanut cap is tight otherwise, it will dry out and not work.

  • @CALEBNDAD Couldn't agree more. Thanks for your insights.

  • Is it reffilable? Can you replace the Flint?

  • @MsRobotmonster Yes on both counts. It's about as easy as a zippo.

  • One question. I bought one of these lighter few days ago. How long does yours last when you use this as a torch?

  • I ordered one from county comm. It was awesome for about 2 months then it stopped working regularly. Now 5 months later I opened it to find the inside had broke. The top had come unattached from the fuel casing.

  • Does it come with fuel ?

  • I thought it was a torch
