@iris030380 Hey I tried to finish this game to the end and was constantly frustrated by it. Then in one manic sitting I managed to finish it to the end and couldnt belive it. Awesome game. I remember it well!
@iris030380 Yeah, that and the fact you had to be patient while they loaded and risk rewinding and reloading if you messed up! Sultan's Maze took 27 minutes! I loved Dizzy though. It was certainly one of the easier CPC games and had such a catchy tune.
Gamers who have only played games from mid-ninties onwards really have no idea what a difficult game IS.
@suedescentedsin Good point! Thank god for Starcraft 2 is all I can say. And I agree with you about the difficulty of CPC games - I remember Saracen becoming almost impossible, but still engaging and entertaining. Then there was Feud, which I only finished once in 3 whole years! And Anarchy... compared to most titles, the Dizzy series were actually quite approachable and easy to play. Despite being much harder than most of todays "on a rail" games, which hold the players hand start to finish.
@iris030380 I never played Jet Set Willy 2 but the thing I noticed was that a lot of the Amstrad CPC games went in a cycle to endlessly up the difficulty like Chuckie Egg and Roland in the Caves. And Oh, Mummy! Lots of fun, though. Back then, I never played them to complete them. A good job, really!
I do enjoy the modern games but they do start being samey and things are a lot more competitive. It's as though a lot of gamers forgot how to have fun.
@suedescentedsin For sure it did! Also, a lot more patience. After all, there was no savegame feature on 99% of Amstrad CPC games! I played Jet Set Willy 2 for hundreds of hours on my CPC and never finished it. But I did finish it using an emulator with a savegame feature a few years ago.
Roland in Time must be almost impossible to complete in one sitting. :D
Yes it took more skill, more patience and most games were totally different from each other back then. These days it's mostly the same.
One of the most difficult games that came with the 464. I spent a lot of time on this, and could never really finish more than one stage with the amount of lives you got. It was like a solid version of Manic Miner.
Brings back some memories though. I think the three best Amsoft titles that shipped with the new CPC were Electro Freddy, Sultans Maze and 3D Stunt Rider.

@iris030380 It took a lot more skill to finish these games than it takes to play the modern ones.
