Whether govt controls the purse strings via insurance, or merely controls the actual delivery of said product via the hospitals, you have the same result.
The real cure is to focus on increasing the pool of doctors and nurses (which is actually declining in this country). Fix that, and everything else follows.

Socialized Medicine: even when you don't want it, just to cover 10% of Americans (oh that's 20%, I forgot, they have got to kiss the ass of 25 million ILEGAL ALIENS?!?!?),
That's what you get (Marxism) when you elect someone simply because of their color, not their character. This sucks eight ways to Sunday, the 2010 midterms are gonna be a bloodbath if this passes.

I do not particularly like the scare tactics from either side. Point is one cannot live beyond their means for too long. A public option will only make the U.S. debt even larger. Obama will push the deficit to over 10% of the GDP for the next 3 years and will likely increase the debt to GDP ratio to over 120%( past the Roosevelt era). This is unprecendented territory. The U.S. needs to deal with this debt addiction now and look at ways to stop this unbelievable slide to a non world power status.

Get ready to have your annual coverage go up another $1,800.
Oh that's right, you're taking the cop-out.
The government setting the rules for all insurers means there will be no competition.
They have no fixed operating budget.
They can drop the price to mere pennies, drive out all other insurers, and then jack the price right back up.
